Recipe : Japanese Tartar Sauce (+ Fried Shrimp)

In this recipe video, I will show you how to make Tartar sauce. I understand that the Tartar sauce is not Japanese food but I remember that many of my cooking class guests said that Tartar sauce in Japan is a bit different from other countries and  delicious! During this video, I introduce my family recipe and also introduce how to make the Ebi Furai (Fried shrimp). Don’t forget to check out the three tips that I recommend. Enjoy this recipe video and please try it out!

Ingredients (2 portions):

Tartar sauce:
1/8 size Onion
1 Egg *boiled
2 Tbsp (30ml) Mayonnaise
1/2 tsp (2.5ml) Lemon juice
1/2 tsp (2.5ml) Mustard
1/2 tsp (2.5ml) Ketchup
Salt & Pepper, to your taste

Topping:
Lettuce
Cabbage *Thinly sliced

Ebi Furai (Fried shrimp):
6 Shrimp
1 Egg
2 Tbsp (30ml) Sake
Salt & Pepper, to your taste
Flour, as needed
Panko, as needed
Vegetable oil, as needed

Directions:

Tartar sauce
1. Finely chop the onion and boiled egg. Then, put in a bowl.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Done!

Ebi Furai (Fried shrimp)
3. Take out the vain from the shrimps. Then, put in a bowl.
4. Pour sake to cleanse the smell and also add the flavor.
5. Put the frying oil in a pan and set it on medium heat.
6. Coat the shrimp with flour, then egg, then panko.
7. Gently add the shrimp to the oil and fry until brown.
8. Serve on a plate. Enjoy with tartar sauce!
