Recipe : Pregnancy Meals In Japan Vol.2

In this recipe video, I’ll introduce how to prepare Japanese-style pregnancy meals. It is recommended that you should take iron more on a daily basis in the middle stage of pregnancy. This time, we will use iron-rich ingredients and make Japanese set menu. In general, it is said that the symptom of iron deficiency causes the shortness of breath, palpitation, headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, and tiredness when moving. I hope these Iron-rich menus helps your healthy eating habit, too!

Ingredients (2 servings) :

Beef & Burdock Donburi:
1/2 stick Burdock
1/2 stick Spring onion
100g Beef *thinly sliced
2 Egg
200ml Dashi
2 Tbsp Mirin
1 Tbsp Sake
1 Tbsp Soy sauce
7 spices, to your taste
240g(120g x 2) Japanese rice *steamed

Tuna & Komatsuna Salad:
1/2 bundle Komatsuna
80g Canned Tuna
1 tsp Curry powder
1 Tbsp Canola oil
Salt, to your taste

Miso Soup with Clam & Turnip:
100g Clam
40g Turnip
300ml Dashi
1.5 Tbsp Miso

Directions :

Beef & Burdock Donburi:
1. Thinly slice the spring onion diagonally.
2. Peel the burdock and thinly slice it diagonally.
3. Heat the pot with medium flame and pour Dashi soup stock. Then, add burdock, sake, mirin, soy sauce and stir lightly.
4. Put the lid and cook for 3 minutes. Add beef and spring onion and cook until the liquid reduces.
5. Take out the scum and add beaten egg. Then, put a lid again.
6. Put the finished product on top of the rice.

Tuna & Komatsuna Salad:
1. Cut Komatsuna into bite size pieces.
2. Heat the frying pan with medium flame and pour canola oil.
3. Add stems of Komatsuna and lightly stir-fry. Then, add canned tuna and leaves of Komatsuna.
4. Add dried shrimp and lightly stir-fry.
5. Put curry powder and salt and mix well.

Miso Soup with Clam & Turnip:
1. Cut off the leaves and peel the skin of turnip. Then, cut it into bite-size pieces, and chop the leaves into small pieces.
2. Heat the pot with medium flame and pour Dashi soup stock.
3. Add clam and boil the soup. Then, put turnip.
4. When it boiled again, take out the scums and then add miso.
5. Put chopped turnip leaves and cook for 30 seconds.

YUCa’s Tips

1. Adjust the taste if you are not pregnant and want more flavor.
2. Lightly stir-fry when making Tuna and Komatsuna salad.
3. Be sure to desalt the clams before cooking.
