YUCa’s Japanese Cooking in New York

Categorised in: | Link of this article

I recently had the opportunity to work on a TV program and went to New York for the filming.

Since I started teaching cooking classes, it has been one of my dreams to visit homes overseas to teach cooking, so when I was offered the opportunity, I wondered if it would really happen, but as the day of my trip to the United States approached, I gradually realized that this is a reality.

In New York, I visited American families and cooked Japanese dishes together in their home kitchens. Although there were some difficult moments cooking in a different environment than usual, we were able to successfully complete the 3-day filming.

We were blessed with fine weather during our stay and were even able to see the full moon with Manhattan. During my free time, I visited several supermarkets and observed a bit of New York’s trendy food and Japanese food situation. I would like to reflect this information in my future blogs.

It was my first visit to New York in a long time, but I was relieved to see that many things have not changed. I was also reminded that this is a city I would like to visit regularly, even if it is only once every few years.

This program will be televised in Kansai area first, and then it will be shown at an exhibition overseas. If the show is well received there, it will be televised overseas as well. I can only pray that it will go in the right direction. Wish me luck!

P.S. Special thanks to entertaining and amazing ABC TV crews and professionals those who coordinated for this special filming in NY. And my husband who was taking care of 2 kids and 2 dogs in Japan. ❤️
