Japanese Set Meal Idea : Vol.1

In this recipe video, I will introduce how to make Japanese set meals for 9 to 10 months old baby. What make this video unique is that with adding little seasonings, all your family can eat along. I trust this recipe video will save you a little time cooking and create time for your family and you!

Ingredients (2 servings) :

Udon with Pumpkin and Spinach:
200g Udon noodles (7.1 oz) *boiled
300ml  Water
1 tsp Dashi powder *bonito flakes powder
50g Pumpkin (1.7 oz) *frozen
20g Spinach (0.7 oz) *frozen

Omelette with Broccoli and Carrot:
1 Egg
10g Broccoli (0.4 oz)  *chopped
15g Carrot (0.5 oz)
1/4 tsp Potato starch
1 Tbsp Water

Yogurt with Carrot and Banana:
4 Tbsp Plain yogurt
1/2 Banana
15g Carrot (0.5 oz)

Directions :

Udon with Pumpkin and Spinach:
1. Place water in a pot over high heat and bring to a boil, then add udon noodles and boil gently. Then, drain well and discard leftover hot water.
2. Put water and dashi powder in a pot and mix well.
3. Bring to a boil, add spinach and squash and cook well. Then, turn off the heat.
4. Place udon noodles in a bowl for children and one for adults, respectively.
5. Cut udon noodles for children.
6. Pour udon soup into each bowl and add Shiro dashi for adults to taste.

Omelette with Broccoli and Carrot:
1. Place carrots and broccoli in a heatproof container, add a little water and microwave for 1 minute.
2. Crack eggs into a bowl and mix well.
3. Combine potato starch and water. Then, add to the egg mixture.
4. Place plastic cellophane in container and pour the egg mixture.


5. With the lid slightly open, microwave for 1 minute.
6. Remove the entire plastic cellophane, fold in half and cut into bite-size pieces.
7. Place omelette in a bowl for children and one for adults, respectively.
8. Serve with ketchup for adults.

Yogurt with Carrot and Banana:
1. Place carrots in a heatproof container and microwave for 1 minute.
2. Add bananas and mash with a spoon.


3. Add yogurt and mix all together.
4. Place yogurt in a bowl for children and one for adults, respectively.
5. For adults, serve with blueberry and strawberry jam.

YUCa’s Tips :

1. Cut udon noodles for children. It is also recommended to make it with veggie dashi.
2. If you do not have a microwave, use a frying pan to make omelette.
3. In desserts with yogurt, the carrots should be quite tender.
